Talk on the history of the Black Dyke Band by Mr John Clay.
The society was pleased to welcome Mr John Clay to give a talk to its members on the history of the Black Dyke Band.
The talk started at the time John Foster founded the Band, with mostly workers from the mill, to its present day. Reference was made to the many conductors of the Band over the years, the Band’s achievements in competitions and the many places they have played in this country and overseas.
John also provided an insight into his long and enjoyable playing career with the Black Dyke Band and the Clifton and Lightcliffe Brass Band.
The society members thoroughly enjoyed this interesting and informative talk.
