The Reverend Thomas Twining (1735-1804) was born into the illustrious Twining’s Tea family. He travelled much and wrote a journal of his travels and these are his words dating from his first visit to Elland in 1776

The Fleece Inn

It is believed that the Inn is 400 years old in 2010. The outside of the building is plain and undecorated, consistent with 1610, the date on the original back door lintel.
